TRIBUTE TO PROFESSOR ABDOU TOURE: A JOURNEY OF EXCELLENCE IN THE SERVICE OF THE NATION
The departing of Professor Abdou Touré, which occurred in Paris on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, left a profound mark on Côte d’Ivoire’s diplomatic and economic landscape.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), former Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to Burkina Faso, and former Permanent Representative of Côte d’Ivoire to the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Professor Touré embodied a generation of public officials defined by intellectual elegance, disciplined action, and an unwavering sense of duty.
Appointed to several strategic positions during his lifetime, he brilliantly defended Côte d’Ivoire’s interests on the international stage. At the OIF, he worked tirelessly to promote the French language, intercultural dialogue, and shared development within the Francophone community.
He also made his mark in the business world, demonstrating visionary leadership. Appointed by presidential decree on September 8, 2021, Professor Abdou Touré took office as Chairman of the Board of Directors of PAA on October 6, 2021, bringing with him extensive experience, rigor, and deep knowledge of public administration and international affairs.
Under his leadership, the Abidjan Port Authority experienced a period of strategic renewal, combining innovation with operational excellence. A statesman and seasoned diplomat, Professor Touré was a loyal companion to the President of the Republic, a builder of political vision, and a devoted servant of Côte d’Ivoire — both nationally and internationally.
He embodied political loyalty in its most noble form: loyalty defined by service, discretion, and integrity. Until his final days, he dedicated his knowledge, diplomatic expertise, intelligence, and wisdom to the Republic and to the vision of His Excellency Mr. Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic.
Admired by his colleagues as an attentive and humane Chairman of the Board, deeply committed to integrity and excellence, Professor Touré leaves behind an immense void in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.
In recognition of his exceptional service and exemplary career, the Grand Chancellor of the National Order, Mr. Ally Coulibaly, paid tribute to him on behalf of the President of the Republic, H.E. Alassane Ouattara. Posthumously, Professor Abdou Touré was elevated to the dignity of Commander of the National Order, an honor that crowns a lifetime devoted to public service, the common good, and the economic development of Côte d’Ivoire.
Professor Abdou Touré now rests in his hometown of Dimbokro, where it all began — and where his memory will live on in the collective conscience of the nation.
