STAFF MEETING WITH THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY: HUMAN CAPITAL AT THE HEART OF PORT PERFORMANCE

It was in a warm atmosphere marked by conviviality, fraternity, and enthusiasm that the Managing DIRECTOR of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, recently appointed to head the port institution, met with all the employees of the Abidjan Port Authority on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Seamen’s Club in Abidjan-Treichville.
This meeting, the first of its kind since his appointment, provided a privileged opportunity for dialogue with employees. It brought together social partners, members of the Executive Committee, and numerous staff members who came to reaffirm their commitment to the organization and their support for the vision promoted by the new Managing Director.
On behalf of the staff, Mr. KIMOU Serge, Chairman of the Staff Delegates, extended his warm congratulations to Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ on his appointment as head of the PAA. He also welcomed the appointment of Mr. Hilaire LAMIZANA as Chairman of the Board of Directors and reaffirmed the willingness of social partners to support the General Management in pursuing the ambitions of modernization, performance, and competitiveness of the Port of Abidjan.
Speaking in turn, the Director of Human Resources, Mrs. TRAORÉ SILUÉ Aurore, reiterated the commitment of the Human Resources Department to maintaining a peaceful social climate and a work environment conducive to employee fulfillment, in accordance with the principles of good governance, social dialogue, and performance.
In his address, the Managing Director expressed his deep gratitude to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, as well as to the Government of Côte d’Ivoire, for the confidence placed in him.
He also paid tribute to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PAA, Mr. Hilaire LAMIZANA, whose recognized experience in the port sector, leadership, and strategic vision constitute, in his view, major governance assets capable of supporting the development ambitions and influence of the Abidjan Port Authority.
The Managing Director also praised the achievements of his predecessor, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, now Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance, whose fifteen years of leadership at the PAA profoundly contributed to the transformation, modernization, and strategic positioning of the Port of Abidjan as a leading port platform in West Africa.
Addressing employees, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ emphasized that the foremost asset of the Abidjan Port Authority is not limited to its modern infrastructure and equipment, but lies above all in its human capital. While commending the professionalism, commitment, and sense of duty of the women and men who contribute daily to the company’s performance, he reaffirmed his determination to place employee well-being, skills development, and professional fulfillment at the center of his action.
“There can be no great institution without any respect for and recognition of all the talents that make it up,” he declared.
The Managing Director also reassured employees of his willingness to maintain permanent dialogue with staff and their representatives in a spirit of trust, listening, and shared responsibility.
In conclusion, he called on all employees to continue their efforts with discipline, commitment, and team spirit in order to collectively meet the challenges of performance, innovation, and competitiveness facing the Abidjan Port Authority, and to contribute to writing new chapters in the already prestigious history of the port institution.
