THE PORT OF ABIDJAN WELCOMES THE MS VISTA AND STRENGTHENS ITS POSITION AS A CRUISE DESTINATION IN WEST AFRICA
The Abidjan Port Authority welcomed the luxury cruise ship MS Vista, owned by Oceania Cruises, on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Measuring 242 meters in length, 36.71 meters in width, and with a draft of 7.65 meters, this state-of-the-art vessel ranks among the most prestigious ships operating on major international cruise routes.
This new call forms part of the positive momentum observed since the beginning of 2026, characterized by a steady increase in the number of cruise ships calling at the Port of Abidjan. It reflects the growing interest of cruise lines in the Ivorian destination and confirms the attractiveness of the Port of Abidjan on international tourism circuits.
The MS Vista carried 662 passengers and 746 crew members on board. During their stay, cruise passengers had the opportunity to discover the cultural, historical, and natural treasures of Abidjan and its surroundings through guided tours showcasing Côte d’Ivoire’s heritage, hospitality, and diversity.
Beyond its tourism significance, this port call generates substantial economic benefits for the local ecosystem. Activities related to transportation, catering, trade, handicrafts, and tourism services directly benefit from the presence of visitors, thereby contributing to value creation and local economic development.

They contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the port platform and strengthening its capacity to accommodate increasingly larger vessels under the best conditions of safety, security, and comfort.
This call by the MS Vista therefore illustrates the growing prominence of the Port of Abidjan as a preferred destination for cruise passengers and reaffirms its ambition to become a key cruise tourism hub in West Africa, while actively contributing to the development of blue economy and the promotion of Côte d’Ivoire’s tourism potential.
