THE PORT SECURITY SEMINAR AT THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY HAS COME TO AN END.
After four days of intensive discussions and training, the seminar dedicated to port security management, which opened on March 24, 2026, concluded at the Abidjan Port Authority on Friday, March 27, 2026, with the ambition of sustainably strengthening maritime security and the competitiveness of Ivorian port platforms.
The closing ceremony, held at the auditorium of the PAA Head office, took place in the presence of Mr. Benjamin SORO, Chief of Staff to the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs, as well as several maritime sector authorities, notably Colonel-Major Julien Yao KOUASSI and Colonel COFFI Yao Emmanuel, Director of Maritime Operations, Security and Environment.
Conducted by experts from the United States Coast Guard, this session helped strengthen the operational capacities of participants in matters relating to port safety and security, thereby contributing to the improvement of the performance and competitiveness of the ports of Abidjan and San Pedro.
At the end of the proceedings, Lieutenant Matthew NAYLOR, head of the American delegation, commended the quality of the reception and the smooth conduct of the training sessions.
In his closing address, Mr. Benjamin SORO congratulated the participants for their commitment and the quality of their contributions. He recalled that maritime and port security constitute a national strategic priority, in line with the vision of the President of the Republic, H.E. Alassane OUATTARA. In this regard, he encouraged all stakeholders to capitalize on the seminar’s achievements in the performance of their duties.
The ceremony was marked by the presentation of the final report, followed by the award of certificates to participants, thus officially marking the official closing of the session.
It should be recalled that the Abidjan Port has been certified since 2004 under the ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code), with its security level regularly assessed by the United States Coast Guard.
