CÔTE D’IVOIRE 2025 COUNTRY RISK CONFERENCE: ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY DEMONSTRATES ITS ROLE IN SUPPORTING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Organized by Bloomfield Intelligence, a subsidiary of the financial rating agency Bloomfield Investment Corporation, the 9th edition of the Côte d’Ivoire Country Risk Conference took place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at SOFITEL Hôtel Ivoire in Abidjan-Cocody.
As the lead sponsor of the event, Abidjan Port Authority was represented by its Managing Director, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ. The official opening ceremony of the 2025 edition was attended by several government officials, public and private sector stakeholders, political leaders, business executives, investors, diplomats, financial institutions, international experts, and civil society representatives.
“What economic transformation after 15 years of performance” was the theme of the panel in which Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ participated together win the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Souleymane DIARRASSOUBA; CEO of KAYDAN Group, Mr. Alain KOUADIO; and Dr. Marius ACHI, Vice President and Chief Economist at Bloomfield Intelligence.
The head of Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) used this opportunity to highlight the transformation of the Port of Abidjan, a strategic pillar and catalyst of the Ivorian economy. In order to effectively support the country’s economy, the government decided in 2011 to modernize the Port of Abidjan through massive investments totaling 1,100 billion CFA francs. With a significant improvement in its logistical and operational capacities over the past 13 years, “the Port of Abidjan’s cargo traffic increased from 17 million tons in 2012 to over 40 million tons in 2024, and container traffic reached 1.6 million TEUs in 2024 compared to 650,000 in 2012,” revealed Mr. Hien SIÉ.
The structural transformation of the Port of Abidjan has enhanced its competitiveness and appeal, as evidenced by the frequent docking of the world’s largest container ships.
Mr. Stanislas ZÉZÉ, Chairman and CEO of Bloomfield Investment Corporation, presented the 2025 Côte d’Ivoire Country Risk Report—a strategic tool offering an in-depth assessment of the investment risk landscape in the country. The report highlights strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, evaluating the country’s competitiveness, resilience, and attractiveness to better understand its investment risks and opportunities.
According to the report, Côte d’Ivoire is rated as a moderate-risk country, with a score of 6.3 in 2025 and stable outlook.
The PAA’s strong financial health was also recognized by Bloomfield Investment, which assigned the Authority a long-term rating of “AA” and a short-term rating of “A1” for the period from September 2024 to August 2025.
