THE ABIDJAN PORT, A KEY INTERFACE FOR PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN CÔTE D’IVOIRE AND NORWAY

As part of the strengthening of economic relations between Norway and Côte d’Ivoire, a mission of Norwegian business operators has stayed in Abidjan from April 12 to 19, 2026. Focused notably on agricultural value chains and the promotion of Fair Trade, this mission forms part of a cooperation dynamic aimed at consolidating trade relations between the two countries.

In this context, the Abidjan Port Authority welcomed, on April 14, 2026, this delegation, which came to gain insight into its organization, the modernity of its infrastructure, and the performance of its logistics system.

The delegation, headed by Ms. Ingrid SKJOLAS, Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Accra (Ghana), and led by Ms. Antoinette BOTTI, Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Norway in Côte d’Ivoire, was received by Colonel COFFI Yao Emmanuel, Director of Maritime Operations, Security and Environment (DOMSE), and Harbour Master of Abidjan Port, in the presence of Dr. Titi PALÉ épouse KOUMAN, Commercial, Marketing and Communication Director (DCMC), Mr. Hyacinthe MONI, Director of Engineering and Project Management (DIMO), and Mr. Jules KOUADIO, Director of Economic Studies, Strategy and Planning (DEESP).

The discussions highlighted the strategic positioning of the Abidjan Port as a major port and logistics hub in West Africa, serving trade, transit, and transshipment activities. They also underscored the significant progress achieved by the Port Authority, particularly in the digitalization of procedures aimed at streamlining operations, improving cargo traceability, and strengthening the competitiveness of the port platform.

The discussions also focused on cocoa export mechanisms, a strategic sector of the Ivorian economy, as well as opportunities for collaboration within a sustainable and responsible value chain approach.

The visit concluded with an immersion tour of the port facilities, giving the delegation a concrete appreciation of the operational capacities, equipment standards, and development potential of the Abidjan Port, a true driving force of Côte d’Ivoire’s foreign trade.
