CAPACITY BUILDING AND REGIONAL COOPERATION: THE PORT OF ABIDJAN SHARES ITS EXPERIENCE WITH TRAINEE OFFICERS OF THE GUINEAN STAFF COLLEGE
The Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) welcomed, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, a delegation of 47 senior trainee officers from the 5th Staff Course of the Republic of Guinea, as part of a study mission in Côte d’Ivoire.
Received by the Managing Director of PAA, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, the delegation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Telly Oury DIALLO, Director of Studies and Deputy Director General of the Guinean Staff College. He was accompanied by Ms. Aïssatou DIALLO, Political and Diplomatic Adviser to the Guinean Ministry of Defence.
This visit forms part of efforts to strengthen the historic ties of friendship, fraternity, and cooperation between the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and the Republic of Guinea. It aims to provide trainee officers with a better understanding of the organization, missions, and functioning of several Ivorian civilian and military institutions, as well as the best practices developed in governance, security, training, and economic development.
During the discussions, Lieutenant Colonel Telly Oury DIALLO expressed his gratitude to the port authorities for the warm welcome extended to the delegation. He conveyed the greetings of the Guinean military authorities and highlighted the importance of this study mission in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, particularly in a context marked by common security challenges requiring coordinated responses from sub-regional States.
Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority praised the excellent relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea while reaffirming the PAA’s readiness to support initiatives that promote experience sharing and capacity building among African military executives.
Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ particularly emphasized issues relating to maritime security, the protection of port infrastructure, and the strategic role of the Port of Abidjan in economic development and sub-regional trade.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of gifts between the two delegations, followed by a tour of the main port facilities. This immersion enabled the trainee officers to discover the strategic infrastructure of the Port of Abidjan as well as the operational, technological, and security systems implemented to ensure the safety, efficiency, and performance of port activities.
