At the end of the extraordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), held on Monday, May 04, 2026, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ was appointed Acting Director General of the institution.

Following this decision, a meeting of the Executive Committee was held, during which Mr. Hilaire LAMIZANA, Chairman of the Board of Directors, officially introduced the new Acting Managing Director on behalf of the Board.

On this occasion, he recalled the main challenges facing the Port of Abidjan, particularly in terms of operational performance and strengthening competitiveness. He also reaffirmed the full commitment of the Board of Directors to support the Executive Management in achieving its strategic objectives.

Taking the floor, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ expressed his gratitude to the Board of Directors for the confidence placed in him. He paid tribute to Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance, former Managing Director of PAA, whose actions contributed to positioning the Port of Abidjan as a major player on the West African Coast. He affirmed his determination to continue along this path by pursuing modernization efforts and strengthening the competitiveness of the Abidjan port platform.

The new Acting Managing Director also stressed the importance of collective work and synergy within the Executive Management. He called on all sector directors to mobilize their expertise, commitment, and sense of responsibility in order to consolidate achievements and further enhance the influence of the Port of Abidjan.

He emphasized that the institution’s higher interests and the sustainability of its development must remain at the core of all actions.

On behalf of the members of the Management Committee, Mr. Chérif TIEMOKO extended his warm congratulations to the Acting Managing Director. He reaffirmed the full support and solidarity of all members, praising the strategic decision to entrust the General Management to an internal resource. He assured him of their collective commitment, based on loyalty, availability, and a sense of duty, to effectively support the implementation of this mission in the light of the major challenges facing the Port of Abidjan.
