DEVELOPMENT OF ROAD ACCESS TO THE ABIDJAN PORT: TECHNICAL CONSULTATION ON THE METRO PROJECT

A multi-stakeholder technical meeting was held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, between the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) and several entities involved in the Abidjan metro project, notably AGEROUTE (Road Management Agency), AMUGA (Urban Mobility Authority of Greater Abidjan), STAR (Abidjan Rail Transport Company), and BNETD (National Bureau for Technical Studies and Development).

Led by MONI N’Guessan Hyacinthe, Director of Engineering and Project Management of the PAA, this meeting aimed to review the arrangements for the development of road infrastructure around the port area.

Discussions mainly focused on the impact of the future metro works on the existing access routes to the Abidjan Port, with particular emphasis on traffic flow issues, the movement of oversized convoys, and compliance with applicable technical standards.

At the end of the indoor session, a field visit to the concerned areas was conducted in order to assess operational constraints and identify coordinated solutions capable of reconciling the requirements of the urban mobility project with the continuity of port activities.
