THE ABIDJAN PORT STRENGTHENS ITS TIES WITH SPAIN THROUGH THE CALL OF THE “FUROR” VESSEL

As part of the multinational maritime security exercise “OBANGAME EXPRESS 2026,” the Abidjan Port Authority welcomed, on April 13, 2026, the Spanish maritime action vessel “FUROR” for an eight-day call. A delegation led by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Côte d’Ivoire, His Excellency Guillermo Marín GORBEA, paid a courtesy visit to the port, where it was received by Colonel COFFI Yao Emmanuel, Harbour Master, in the presence of the Commercial, Marketing and Communication Director, Dr. Titi PALÉ épouse KOUMAN.

This visit forms part of the strengthening of cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and Spain in the areas of maritime safety and security. The discussions highlighted the importance of enhanced collaboration in addressing security challenges in the Gulf of Guinea, while also showcasing the progress achieved by the Abidjan Port in terms of modernization and logistics performance. In this regard, the Commander of the “FUROR” commended the quality of the port facilities and the efforts undertaken to raise the Abidjan platform to international standards.

Organized annually, “OBANGAME EXPRESS” notably aims to combat piracy and illicit trafficking while strengthening the coordination of maritime operations among partner States.
