SIGNING OF A TRIPARTITE AGREEMENT TO OPTIMIZE TRANSSHIPMENT AT ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY
On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Abidjan Terminal, and Côte d’Ivoire Terminal signed a strategic agreement aimed at harmonizing the management of transshipment traffic between the two terminals. The signing ceremony took place at the PAA headquarters in the presence of Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of PAA, Mrs. Asta-Rosa CISSE, Managing Director of Abidjan Terminal, and Mr. Koen De BACKKER, Managing Director of Côte d’Ivoire Terminal.
This agreement establishes a structured framework for managing and accounting for cross-terminal transshipment traffic, ensuring consistent handling of operations. It aims to optimize the efficiency of goods flows within the port, for the benefit of the Port Authority and maritime stakeholders.
Furthermore, the agreement allows for the integration of cross-terminal transshipment volumes into Côte d’Ivoire Terminal’s minimum volume commitments to the PAA, while avoiding double counting by the two operators.
This initiative reflects the shared desire of the three parties to strengthen the Port of Abidjan’s role as a strategic transshipment hub on Africa’s Atlantic coast. By enhancing coordination between port operators, the agreement contributes to increasing the port’s appeal and competitiveness on the regional and international stage.
