PAA AND FORWARDING AGENTS JOIN FORCES TO OPTIMIZE PORT PROCEDURES
Continuing its dialogue with professional organizations within the Abidjan Port Community (CPA), the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, accompanied by members of the Executive Committee, received in audience, on Friday, June 19, 2026, a delegation from the Forwarding Agents Union, led by its President, Mr. Valassiné DIARRASSOUBA.
This meeting reflects the Port Authority’s commitment to strengthening consultation with the various stakeholders operating on the Port of Abidjan platform, with a view to improving service quality and enhancing the port’s competitiveness.
At the outset of the discussions, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ recalled the strategic role played by the forwarding agents within the port logistics chain. He commended their professionalism and their essential contribution to the smooth flow of trade and the efficient functioning of port activities.
Speaking on behalf of his organization, Mr. Valassiné DIARRASSOUBA presented the main concerns of the forwarding agents. He also put forward several proposals aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving the conditions under which the profession is practiced. Reaffirming the Union’s willingness to support ongoing reforms, he expressed the wish to maintain a permanent consultation framework among the various stakeholders of the logistics chain.
In response, the Managing Director of PAA stressed the importance of promoting a coordinated approach among the different professional groups within the Abidjan Port Community. He emphasized that the challenges related to port performance require collective mobilization and shared responsibility from all stakeholders.
Taking note of the concerns raised, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ assured the the forwarding agents of the particular attention that the PAA gives to these issues. He reaffirmed the Port Authority’s commitment to continuing discussions with the relevant parties in order to identify the most appropriate solutions in the interest of the competitiveness and attractiveness of the Port of Abidjan platform.
Through this series of meetings with professional organizations within the Abidjan Port Community, the Abidjan Port Authority reaffirms its commitment to participatory governance based on listening, constructive dialogue, and the collaborative search for sustainable solutions in support of port performance.
