ORGANIZATION OF AN ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL FORUM IN BAMAKO: THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY INVITED TO PARTICIPATE

The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, received in audience, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Mr. AKATIA Herman, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in Mali.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss preparations for the Economic and Social Forum that the Ivorian diplomatic mission plans to organize in October 2027 in Bamako. The event aims to strengthen trade exchanges and further enhance economic and social ties between Côte d’Ivoire and Mali.

During the discussions, Mr. AKATIA Herman emphasized the strategic role of the Abidjan Port Authority in the economic relations between the two countries. He indicated that PAA represents a key partner for the success of the forum, which will provide a privileged platform to promote Ivorian port infrastructure to Malian economic operators and importers.

For his part, the Managing Director of PAA welcomed the initiative, describing it as an excellent framework for strengthening economic cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and Mali. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Abidjan Port Authority to support all initiatives aimed at consolidating trade exchanges between the two countries and promoting the logistical advantages of the Ivorian port platform.

He also recalled the importance of Mali as one of the Port of Abidjan’s principal partners and one of its leading transit countries.

For the record, transit cargo traffic through the Port of Abidjan destined for Mali experienced an exceptional increase of 83.1% in 2025, rising from 800,000 tonnes in 2024 to 1.5 million tonnes, thereby illustrating the dynamism of trade between the two countries and the growing competitiveness of the Abidjan-Bamako corridor.
