THE PORT OF ABIDJAN STRENGTHENS ITS COMPETITIVENESS WITH THE PROCUREMENT OF TWO NEW QUAY CRANES
Abidjan Terminal, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics (AGL) and concessionaire of the Port of Abidjan’s First Container Terminal (TC1), took delivery of two (02) new ultra-modern shore cranes on Sunday, November 2, 2025, bringing the total number of cranes operating at the terminal to seven (07).
The acquisition of these new quay cranes, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, reflects the Port Authority’s ambition to position the Port of Abidjan as a benchmark logistics hub along Africa’s Atlantic coast, while supporting the competitiveness of the Ivorian economy.
These new electric shore cranes, with an outreach of 47 meters and a lifting capacity of 65 tonnes, will strengthen Abidjan Terminal’s operational capacity by reducing vessel turnaround times. This initiative will also help anticipate additional traffic flows.
With this new acquisition, the Port of Abidjan aims to reach new thresholds in terms of annual container handling capacity.
As a reminder, container traffic at the Port of Abidjan recorded high growth of 33%, increasing from 1,238,195 TEUs in 2023 to 1,646,304 TEUs in 2024.
It should be noted that all these investments stem from the strategic vision of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, whose clear orientations in infrastructure and port development have fostered an environment conducive to private investment and the modernization of the Port of Abidjan.
