A LITERARY RELEASE PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE PORT OF ABIDJAN
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, a press conference was held to mark the official release of the book “Administration & Management of Ports: the Lung of the Global Economy from A to Z”, authored by HN. MAUNNY, civil name Mr. Moni N’Guessan Hyacinthe, Public Works Engineer.
Held under the theme “Port of Abidjan: a golden decade”, the event took place at the Novotel Abidjan-Plateau and brought together stakeholders from the port, logistics, scientific and economic sectors to celebrate the profound transformation of the Port of Abidjan over the past decade.
On this occasion, the author paid tribute to the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority, Mr. Hien Yacouba Sié, highlighting a decade of structural reforms and major infrastructure projects that have positioned the Port of Abidjan as a leading maritime hub on Africa’s Atlantic coast.
Since 2012, under his leadership, the Port of Abidjan has undergone a major transformation, notably illustrated by the construction of a fishing terminal jetty, the widening and deepening of the Vridi Canal entrance to accommodate next-generation vessels, land reclamation in the Vridi-Biétry lagoon bay, the construction of a ro-ro terminal, a second container terminal labeled “Green Terminal”, a new grain terminal, and the achievement and consolidation of internationally recognized certifications.
Beyond infrastructure, speakers highlighted the human revolution carried out within the Port Autonome d’Abidjan, based on continuous skills development, a culture of excellence and the adoption of international operational standards—key drivers of sustainable performance.
Several testimonies were shared during the ceremony, praising the vision, managerial rigor and tangible results achieved under the leadership of Mr. Hien Yacouba Sié.
These included statements from representatives of PAA staff, strategic partners, the scientific community represented by Mr. Lanciné DIABATÉ, Director General of ICCATEX; Mr. Franck GBALOU on behalf of the Union of Shipping Agents and Shipowners of Côte d’Ivoire (UCACI); the Ivorian Maritime Federation represented by its President Ms. Maryam HAÏDARA DOUDOU; and Dr. KOUAMÉ Séraphin, representing engineering firms and port authorities.
Through this memorial work, the author aims to highlight the effectiveness of public action and offer a strategic reflection on the current and future challenges of African ports, considered true instruments of economic sovereignty.
This literary release thus stands as an act of recognition, remembrance and transmission, consecrating a decade of collective action that has elevated the Port of Abidjan among the most competitive maritime platforms on the African continent.
