LAUNCH OF THE 19TH EDITION OF THE MISS MATHEMATICS COMPETITION: THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY REAFFIRMS ITS COMMITMENT TO FEMALE SCIENTIFIC EXCELLENCE

The 19th edition of the prestigious scientific competition Miss Mathematics was officially launched on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Lycée Classique of Abidjan-Cocody, in the presence of administrative, municipal and institutional partners.

Official sponsor of the competition since April 27, 2023, following the signing of a partnership agreement with the Mathematical Society of Côte d’Ivoire (SMCI), the Abidjan Port Authority took part in the ceremony, reaffirming its commitment to promoting young girls in scientific fields.

Through this structured partnership, PAA is part of a strategic vision of investing in human capital, convinced that sustainable development relies on scientific education and the emergence of a new generation of female talents.

The various speeches delivered during the ceremony highlighted the importance of breaking gender stereotypes and encouraging young girls to orient themselves toward scientific disciplines from an early age.

Mr. Hilaire ATINDEHOU, President of the Miss Mathematics Commission, commended the continuous support of PAA and paid tribute to the Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, former Managing Director of PAA, for his decisive role in facilitating this partnership.

Representing the port authority, Dr. Titi PALÉ, Director of Commercial, Marketing and Communication, paid tribute to Professor Saliou TOURÉ, President of the Mathematical Society of Côte d’Ivoire, whom she described as a major figure in the Ivorian education system.

She emphasized that investment in scientific education constitutes a strategic lever for national transformation and competitiveness and encouraged the candidates to demonstrate determination and perseverance, reminding them that excellence is within their reach.

Dr. Titi PALÉ also praised the vision of the Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, for his commitment to promoting young Ivorian girls.

“Thank you, Mr. Minister, for your foresight, for your unwavering commitment to human capital and for your determination to make Ivorian youth a strategic lever for transformation and progress. Your leadership inspires and paves the way for development based on knowledge, competence and equal opportunity.”

Through its commitment alongside the SMCI, the Abidjan Port Authority reaffirms its determination to promote equal opportunities, excellence and the construction of a future built on knowledge and innovation.

Registrations for this 19th edition will take place online from March 6 to April 18, 2026.
