THE ABIDJAN PORT BOOSTS ITS CAPACITY WITH THE ACQUISITION OF 2 SHIP-TO-SHORE CRANES AND 9 RUBBER-TYRED GANTRY CRANES

As part of its development and modernization strategy, Côte d’Ivoire Terminal, operator of the Abidjan Port’s second container terminal, acquired on July 11, 2025, two Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes and nine Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes.

These latest-generation, fully electric pieces of equipment strengthen the terminal’s operational capacity and directly contribute to achieving the objectives set by the Abidjan Port in terms of performance, logistical fluidity, and regional competitiveness.

With this acquisition, the fleet of the second container terminal now consists of eight Ship-to-Shore cranes (compared to six previously) and 27 Rubber-Tyred Gantry cranes (compared to 18 before), thereby reinforcing its handling capacity.

It should be recalled that the Abidjan Port’s second container terminal, certified as a “Green Terminal,” has been in operation since November 2022 and was officially inaugurated on Friday, December 2, 2022.

Thanks to the terminal’s performance, container traffic exceeded the one million mark within just two years, reaching 1,646,304 TEUs in 2024.

The reinforcement of the Abidjan Port’s operational capacity is part of a large-scale infrastructural and technological development plan led by the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, and supported by the Government of Côte d’Ivoire.
