ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY AT THE 20TH WORLD CONFERENCE OF THE AIVP : COOPERATING TO INNOVATE AND ADAPT TO CLIMATE CHALLENGES
A delegation from Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) took part, from November 18 to 21, 2025, in New York, United States, in the 20th World Conference of the International Association of Cities and Ports (AIVP), held under the theme:
“Ports, cities, climate: cooperating to innovate and adapt.”
Bringing together port and urban stakeholders from around the world, this event provides a vital platform for rethinking the role of ports in addressing environmental and climate challenges.
For several years, Abidjan Port Authority has been firmly engaged in a process of sustainable transformation. With its ISO 14001:2015 environmental certification and the commissioning of its second container terminal labeled Green Terminal, PAA is steadily strengthening its positioning in favor of ecological transition and reducing its environmental footprint.
The theme of this 20th edition resonates particularly in Abidjan, where cooperation between port stakeholders, urban authorities, businesses and civil society constitutes a key lever for development.
In this context, alongside the PAA delegation was also a delegation from the Autonomous District of Abidjan, led by Minister Paulin Claude Danho, First Vice-Governor, underscoring the strategic importance of joint participation.
The simultaneous presence of the Abidjan Port Authority and the Autonomous District of Abidjan at this international gathering clearly reflects the shared determination to promote a City–Port cooperation dynamic, in line with the vision of the Head of State, His Excellency Mr. Alassane Ouattara, who advocates for a harmonious, sustainable and integrated development of the country’s economic capital.
Representing the Abidjan Port Authority at this high-level meeting were Ms. Salimata Fofana Meité, Technical Adviser to the Managing Director of PAA; Mr. Bamoussa Ouattara, Director of Land and Assets; Dr. Titi Palé, Director of Commercial Affairs, Marketing and Communication; and Ms. Salimata Aurore Silué Traoré, Director of Human Resources.
