THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY AND CMA CGM STRENGTHEN THEIR STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP IN SUPPORT OF PORT AND LOGISTICS DEVELOPMENT
The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, received in audience Mr. Alae RAHMOUNE, Regional Managing Director of the CMA CGM Group, on Thursday, July 2, 2026. The meeting formed part of efforts to strengthen relations between the two institutions and provided an opportunity to discuss cooperation prospects and major projects capable of fostering the development of the Port of Abidjan.
At the beginning of the discussions, the Managing Director of PAA welcomed CMA CGM’s strategic decision to establish its regional headquarters in Abidjan. He noted that this decision is a sign of confidence in Côte d’Ivoire and further confirms the Port of Abidjan’s position as a major port hub in West Africa.
In turn, Mr. Alae RAHMOUNE congratulated Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ on his appointment as Head of the Abidjan Port Authority. He reaffirmed CMA CGM’s commitment to the Port of Abidjan, a long-standing partner of the Group, and praised the significant performance achieved by the port platform in recent years. He stated that the establishment of the regional headquarters in Abidjan reflects CMA CGM’s confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic potential and in the development, opportunities offered by the Port of Abidjan.
The Regional Managing Director also reiterated his Group’s willingness to support the Abidjan Port Authority in implementing major port and logistics projects aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the platform and supporting the growth of trade flows throughout the sub-region.
For his part, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ recalled that CMA CGM remains one of the Abidjan Port Authority’s strategic partners. He reaffirmed the PAA’s commitment to maintaining close collaboration with the Group in order to develop efficient infrastructure and innovative logistics solutions capable of meeting the requirements of steadily increasing maritime traffic.
The discussions focused in particular on prospects for expanding port infrastructure, strengthening logistics capacity, and improving the fluidity of port operations.
This meeting reflects the shared determination of the Abidjan Port Authority and the CMA CGM Group to consolidate a long-term partnership based on a common vision of port development and the promotion of the Port of Abidjan as a leading platform on Africa’s Atlantic coast.
