PORT PLATFORM: MSC REAFFIRMS THE STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE OF THE PORT OF ABIDJAN IN WEST AFRICA
The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, received in audience, on Monday, June 22, 2026, a delegation from MSC Côte d’Ivoire, led by its Managing Director, Mr. Cédric COUJON, accompanied by Deputy Managing Director Mrs. Emmanuelle GADEDDU.
This courtesy visit provided MSC Côte d’Ivoire executives with an opportunity to present their activities to the new Managing Director of PAA and to extend their warm congratulations following his appointment.
During the discussions, Mr. Cédric COUJON highlighted MSC’s position as the world leader in container shipping while recalling the long-standing relationship between the Group and the Port of Abidjan. In this regard, he emphasized the strategic importance of the Ivorian port platform within MSC’s operational network in West Africa.
The Managing Director of MSC Côte d’Ivoire also noted the sustained growth of the Group’s activities at the Port of Abidjan over the past three years, reflecting the dynamism of the Ivorian economy, the attractiveness of the Port of Abidjan, and its central role in sub-regional trade.
Discussions focused on prospects for the development of maritime and logistics activities, as well as on drivers for enhancing cooperation between the Abidjan Port Authority and MSC. Both parties notably discussed the challenges associated with supporting the growth of trade flows and consolidating the competitiveness of the Port of Abidjan platform for the benefit of economic operators, particularly those from hinterland countries, especially Mali.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ welcomed MSC Côte d’Ivoire’s initiative and reaffirmed the PAA’s commitment to continuing its efforts to provide modern infrastructure and increasingly efficient services to all its partners.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the excellent relationship between the Abidjan Port Authority and MSC, one of the world’s leading maritime transport operators, while reaffirming his determination to further strengthen this partnership in support of maritime trade and national economic development.
