ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY PARTICIPATES IN WORLD WATER DAY 2025
On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Abidjan Port Authority participated in the 2025 edition of World Water Day (WWD), celebrated at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute (INP-HB) in Yamoussoukro.
This participation reflects PAA’s commitment to sustainable environmental management, a dedication that has earned the port ISO 14001 environmental certification since 2018.
Representing the Port at the event, Mr. MONI N’GUESSAN Hyacinthe, Deputy Director of Engineering and Project Management, co-led a major panel discussion held under the theme “Water Resource Management: Local Innovations and Economic Opportunities for a Resilient Future.” Through his contributions, Mr. MONI highlighted the sustainable practices implemented by Abidjan Port Authority to help protect water resources and ensure their availability. He also discussed the issues and challenges of water management in port zones, as well as the systems and processes put in place to minimize the environmental impact of port activities.
PAA also manned an exhibition booth to showcase the major developments of Abidjan Port Authority over the past decade.
Celebrated each year on March 22, World Water Day is an opportunity to reflect on and raise awareness about the need to protect this vital resource.
Globally, the theme for the 2025 edition was “Glacier Preservation.” It is worth noting that these vast ice formations play a crucial role in the water cycle, but their rapid melting due to climate change threatens the global hydrological balance.
