CEREMONY OF 2023 NATIONAL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

Abidjan Port Authority received the Award of Excellence for the best contribution to the influence of the transport Industry.

On Tuesday 05 september 2023, at the Presidential Palace, Mr Hien Yacouba SIE Managing Director received , on behalf of Abidjan Port Authority( PAA), the 2023 National Award for the best contribution to the Transport Industry.

This award by the State of Côte  d’Ivoire  is an illustration of the recognition for the efforts made by the team led by Mr Hien  SIE for the upgrading of Abidjan Port.

Thus ,since 2011, in compliance with the recovery of Côte  d’Ivoire ’s development advocated by his Excellency Mr Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic,the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority took  the initiative to resize the port, so as to match the ambitions of  Côte  d’Ivoire  and reposition it in the concert of the ports complying with  international standards.

To that extent,several works have been carried out as follows :

• The upgrading of the Fishing Terminal with the construction of a mole in operation since 2015.
• The development of 40ha of additional land through refilling of the Vridi Bietry Bay in 2016 in order to set up new industrial units.
• The underpinning of the quay wall of the Bulk Terminal in 2017.
• The construction of a
• Terminal in operation since March 2018.
• The widening and the deepening of thevridi Canal’s entrance,inaugurated on 21 February 2019.
• The construction of the second Container Terminal inaugurated on 02 December 2022.
• The construction of a Grain Terminal put into operation on 30 May,2023

 

To recover the investments incurred,Abidjan Port Authority is considering , over the five next years, to implement an upgrading program of the port facilities in order to better serve the national economy.

Thus ,by 2025 ,Abidjan Port will provide its users with more and more performing and innovative services, so as to meet the ever increasing requirements of the maritime and port industry while remaining in compliance with its environmental and social responsability.

Moreover, thanks to the other reforms that the PAA’s top management undertook –in terms of securing the port platform ,improving quality services,protecting the environment and financial management,Abidjan Port became the first ISO 9001/2015 compliant Port for ship reception and ISO 14001/2015 for environment.

Abidjan Port also enhanced its compliance with

ISPS code regarding safety of port facilities.

Moreover, Mr Hien SIE improved the financial governance ,which led Bloomfield Investment Corporation, an agency of financial rating to grant Abidjan Port Authority a rating of AA- on the long term and A1_1 on the short term with a stable     out- look.

As a recall ,the National Award of Excellence enshrines the commitment of the State of Côte  d’Ivoire  to promote a society of excellence .The organization each year of this event since its resumption in 2013 is in line with,the different visions of his Excellency Alassane OUATTARA President of the  Republic who intends to build a prosperous and united Côte  d’Ivoire
