The bonded zone is the maritime border of the Port. It is located in the customs barrier and consists of shims, medians, unmarked areas and specialized terminals (ro-ro, ore, fertilizer, cereal ...).
The customs facilities are distributed as follows:
- nineteen (19) store-holds with a reception capacity of 106,200 m²;
- nineteen (19) first-class plazas with a total area of 53,792 m²;
- 75,632 m² of uncovered areas (medians, terminals, garages and others) of which 24,781 m² were requisitioned for the construction of five (05) new warehouse-holdings;
- the UNICAO park with an area of 70,032 m²;
- 279,934 m² paved at the Vridi Container Terminal including 16,143 m² in gravelly;
- 65,315 m² of a lumber yard;
- a fruit terminal which has allowed the Port of Abidjan to have a modern infrastructure for the treatment of fruit with:
- a larger storage space;
- a larger draft permissible;
- an extended wharf wall to accommodate two (02) ships at the same time
It should be noted that the Port of Abidjan treats nearly five hundred thousand (500,000) tons of bananas and pineapples annually..
In total, the bonded area covers an overall area of 651,000 m² of exploitable space..
